Summary
Misconfigurations are a common reason for data breaches, MNOs must take control through fast and decisive actions. But how to get a grip on this complex topic? Resolving configuration errors can be grueling, and it certainly is very time-consuming. But there is no way around understanding and controlling how exactly the traffic flows into and out of the network. Just thinking of tracking network configurations per partner IR.21 document received, or manually checking updates in IR.21s can give users the creeps.
We help with strengthening your core network by spotting missing and incorrect configurations and vulnerabilities by configuring only relevant data. With the auditing network configurations implemented in connection with received IR.21 documents, the unpleasant side effects of misconfigurations are a thing of the past. Less misconfigurations result in fewer backlogs which again result in additional roaming revenues by happy and loyal roaming subscribers. Who would have thought that the secure automation of all roaming related business information is just a few steps away?
With the development of the RAEX-standard, the GSMA took over the reins and initiated the compilation of roaming related business information between the client and their roaming partners for all GSMA members in one application. The effective data management which included correct information and a secure, well-designed system greatly improved the user experience.
RoamsysNext had the honor to be in charge of the InfoCentre RAEX Tools application from the very beginning. In addition to this, we have been developing further applications with many expanded functionalities. These tools simplify the initial and ongoing correct configuration of every roaming relevant network element, and they help MNOs to block any unwanted or unauthorized traffic with very little effort. Want to take a look behind the scenes? Here we go!
In RoamsysNext Insights our experts share their views on extensive industry topics and possible solutions we can offer.
The RoamsysNext Wholesale Roaming Manager provides powerful collaboration and reporting tools for all roaming partner relationships by converging everything from service openings to the user’s roaming footprint, test SIM cards and tariff, document and contact management. The strength of the Network Configuration Optimizer, however, lies in the smart combination of the effective and secure data management of all roaming related business information.
Bon voyage! From manual processing to full automation
The manual checking of updates in IR.21, for example, is not only prone to errors. It is intensely time-consuming and might not even require a network update. Now, users can receive all partner IR.21 and IR.85 documents in one place to quickly identify and implement updates. The processed data is compared to the own roaming footprint to pinpoint gaps, missing or outdated data. Whenever errors are found corrections can be made right away, supported by powerful sanity checks.
Your time is precious – let us help you staying focused
Since not all changes in an IR.21 are relevant for network node configuration certain rules on section and subsection level can be set up to stay focused on the important stuff. The same holds true for the monitoring of past network update requests and implementations. In some cases, partners send different versions of IR.21s in one day, which may contain the same information. Checking all sections of documents only to find out that no new update is required, is actually a waste of time. The Network Configuration Optimizer improves the tracking of network configurations per partner IR.21 document received considerably.
From the beginning, our experts guide new users through the automation rules setup phase, and they also prepare the system according to the user’s requirements. This includes an extensive test phase to demonstrate the quality enhancement through customizable vendor specific configuration files for all network elements. Less misconfigurations result in fewer backlogs which again result in additional roaming revenues by satisfied and loyal roaming subscribers. For management or roaming coordination purposes well-designed and fully customizable dashboards provide quick and clean views on current activities.
Security comes first
A well configured network ensures security for the network and its customers, it’s a no-brainer. We help with strengthening the user’s core network by spotting missing and incorrect configurations and vulnerabilities by configuring only relevant data to protect SS7 and IP networks. Audits can be used to ensure that the right configurations are implemented in every network node so that unavailable services or revenue leakage will not occur. In group networks, a parent company oftentimes finds it difficult to coordinate and monitor the performance of network update procedures of member networks. With the Network Configuration Optimizer, it is easier to coordinate and monitor local roaming processes from a group level. Assigning configurations directly to single users or teams is a piece of cake, as well as getting full automation by connecting our tool directly to the user’s own network node configuration system. Our experts are always available to provide excellent support in close cooperation with the user’s core team.
All-in-one solution
It is such a relief for users to have all the partner data in one place and check the status of the configuration process. Especially for troubleshooting and cross-checking direct access to all documents is important. Incorrect configurations, for example, are difficult to detect unless there is a major incident. With auditing the network configurations implemented in connection with the received IR.21 document, the unpleasant side effects of misconfigurations belong to the past.
Extracting a particular information from all partner IR.21s can be a challenging task, just thinking of extracting all MGT of partner networks can give users the creeps. With the easy verification and extraction of network parameters from partner documents the search for special IP addresses, for example, IMSIs or ASN numbers can be done in a fraction of time. Of course, search results can be filtered and exported according to any user’s requirements for reporting and sharing. Clean and neat visualizations show the database status and current tasks in clear-cut dashboards, a blessing for the management.
In special cases, RoamsysNext allows customers to submit their non-RAEX partner documents to our data capturing team, and we make it available to all modules. Needless to say that all services including 5G, VoLTE and different service opening stages are supported. User-friendly filters and customizable coverage maps allow users to get quickly to the required information. Commercial and technical teams are brought together and communication flows naturally. This makes it easier to identify footprint gaps, create reports on service level (e.g. 5G) and connect with GSMA InfoCentre2 resources. The current roaming footprint can be set up for smart automation rules based on connection status or service. It goes without saying, that technology and functionality aspects guarantee a secure and restricted access to the API.
